Starting Point : Didim - Ending Point : Didim - Days : 1 We depart from Didim at 09:00 am with our private Mercedes vehicle and English speaking guide. The duration of the ride will take one hour thirty minutes. During drive your guide will give you a historical background of the site. Ephesus is one of the most visited site in Turkey. It is the best preserved Greco-Roman city and excavations are still going on at the site. Once it used to have one of the biggest port that lead the Roman Empire to make the city as the capital of the second biggest state of Romans so-called Asia Minor. Thanks to the Artemis Temple the city was almost a pilgrimage center for the Polytheists. The enormity of the Amphithatre shows us the population was 300.000. After a coffee break we will head to The Artemis Temple which was built by Lydians and destroyed by one of the Ephesian at 3rd century BC. Then your guide will take you to the St. John's Basilica in which the apostle John is believed to be buried. The Basilica was visited by the Pope a few times and sermons are done every Sunday in modern days. After we will go to a local restaurant for lunch which will be Çöp Shish a local grilled lamb of the town. Afterwards we will drive up to the Virgin Marry House on the Mount Bulbul. Since the mid of 18th century the sermons are done actively as it is accepted that She lived and died at the House that we will visit.
